Preschool Assistant Teacher

BCD preschool assistant teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Homeroom assistant teacher in BCD’s preschool division;

  • Provide a stimulating, creative and an appropriately challenged or appropriately differentiated educational environment, including opportunities for children to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. 

  • Use best practices regarding student-centered instruction, collaboration, and authentic assessment;

  • Participate in ongoing training in literacy, differentiation, and other appropriate topics;

  • Provide regular and thorough communication to all BCD constituencies (students, parents, and colleagues);

  • Support enrollment and retention by assisting with tours, events, and other school outreach; and

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Head of School.


The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated passion for teaching preschool school children;

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education is preferred. However, coursework in early childhood education or child development in combination with verifiable experience working with children is also acceptable. 

  • Applicants must meet appropriate Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) requirements/qualifications and provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado’s Department of Early Learning. Applicants using experience (in combination with education) to qualify must have a minimum of three (3) months verifiable full time or equivalent part-time experience working with children in a similar setting.

  • Experience teaching in an early childhood setting;

  • Knowledge of or background in independent schools;

  • Ability to differentiate within each class;

  • Flexibility, ability to work with change, and strengths in innovation; and

  • Effective communication skills.
