Upper Division Social Studies Teacher

August 5, 2025 - May 31, 2026

Social Studies Teacher (part-time, 2025-26 School Year)

Denver JDS announces the opening of a part-time position teaching history/social studies.

Denver Jewish Day School Background:

Our pluralistic Jewish community day school prepares and inspires Jewish students through an extraordinary secular and Judaic education to live purposefully, act ethically, and thrive in the world.  We serve approximately 360 students in grades PK-12 on a beautiful campus in southeast Denver.  Next year, our Upper Division will enroll around 190 students in grades 6-12.  Our approximately 30 Upper Division faculty and staff come from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to caring for and educating young people holistically.

Role and responsibilities of the teacher:

Denver Jewish Day School seeks a dynamic educator to teach two or three sections of history or social studies.  We are open to different areas of specialty, but we’re especially interested in candidates who could teach any of the following: 6th-grade Social Studies (Western Hemisphere); 9th-grade World History; and high school electives in government, economics, psychology, and speech-and-debate.  Class sizes are small (about 15 students on average), and teachers have substantial autonomy to develop engaging and inspiring curricula that meet their students’ needs.

Qualifications:

We are looking for passionate educators who are excited about working in a small school environment where it is possible to get to know students well and provide highly individualized guidance and support.  The ideal candidate will have a record of excellence in prior teaching roles; exhibit exceptional communication skills; and demonstrate comfort in developing creative, interdisciplinary curricula in collaboration with colleagues.

Compensation:

The salary range for this part-time position is $20,000-30,000, depending on experience and the number of courses taught.

Applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Social Studies Department Chair Brian Welling ([email protected]) and Upper Division Principal Jeremy Golubcow-Teglasi ([email protected]).
