Steamboat Mountain School’s Teaching Faculty afford students active learning opportunities to engage through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The goal of the school is to foster confident, empathetic, and global learners who strive to engage genuinely with other people.
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Upper School Math Teacher for the 25-26 school year. This position will directly report to the Assistant Head of School and will be responsible for developing curriculum, designing lessons, and engaging students in high-quality learning. Candidates should be familiar with differentiated instruction so that each student has the opportunity to do work that is appropriately challenging. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience teaching to high school-aged students.
Specific job responsibilities include:

Create units and lesson plans that prioritize student engagement and individual needs using student-centered and inquiry-based approaches.

Prepare lessons and develop captivating student-centered curricula.

Employ a variety of teaching methods and differentiated instruction to engage a range of learners.

Maintain accurate records of student growth and communicate progress with families.

Create a classroom culture that is engaging, student-centered, and effectively managed.

Participate in and lead outdoor education trips throughout the year.

Residential duties

Potentially leading an international trip for a month in the Spring

Attend faculty meetings and maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school as well as through self-selected professional growth activities.

Attend the start of school meetings and end of year school meetings.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Assistant Head of School.

Teaching Faculty are eligible to take non-work days during traditional school holidays as listed in the school’s official calendar and separate from paid sick leave, but only as their professional responsibilities allow.
Qualification Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of experience in education.

Master’s degree preferred.

Interest in outdoor education and project-based learning

Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and dedication to continuously developing and practicing cultural competence in one’s teaching are also essential.
Compensation and Benefits:
Steamboat Mountain School offers a rich and comprehensive benefits package for full time employees.

Salary range $40,000-$70,000 depending on experience, schedule worked, and housing needs.
Higher degrees and teaching experience will impact final salary.
