Key Responsibilities
- Music Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging general music lessons for Kindergarten to 5th grade, focusing on exploration, creation, process to performance, and developmentally appropriate music literacy
- Develop age-appropriate curricula that align with school standards and incorporate diverse musical genres and cultures.
- Utilize various teaching methods, including singing, movement, and instrument playing.
- Plan and lead grade-level performances throughout the year.
- Choir Direction
- Conduct and direct the Lower School choir, preparing students for performances and special events.
- Select appropriate repertoire that reflects the interests and abilities of the choir members.
- Organize regular rehearsals and communicate effectively with students and families regarding schedules and performances.
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Assess and communicate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual growth in music skills.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, and participation.
- Collaboration and Community Engagement
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate music into the broader curriculum.
- Work closely in collaboration with our other Lower School Music Instructor and our entire Pre K-12 music faculty
- Participate in school events, including concerts, festivals, and community outreach programs.
- Engage families and the school community through music-related activities and performances. Participate in Lower School Programs to include LS Town Meeting, FAMILIES and Kid Talks.
- Professional Development
- Stay current with best practices in music education and pursue opportunities for professional growth.
- Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to the overall mission and vision of Colorado Academy.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performance, or a related field.
- Experience teaching music to children in a school setting, preferably in grades K-5.
- Strong vocal skills, piano proficiency, and experience in choral conducting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with children.

The pay range for the position is $62,100 - $118,200. Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any discrepancies that may exist do not relate to sex. The Academy offers an excellent compensation package, wide-ranging opportunities for professional development, and an environment notable for its dedicated teaching professionals and supportive administrators.
