Stagecraft Teacher (Part-Time)

August 23, 2024 - March 21, 2025

About the Position

The Logan School has an opening for a stagecraft teacher to support a group of 10-12 students, who have elected to learn about technical theater. The stagecraft teacher is responsible for teaching students how to design and build a set, design and run audio and lighting schemes, and do costume/makeup for an elementary musical and a middle school play. This position is also responsible for the organization and maintenance of the stagecraft classroom. Assessment of student progress includes completing individual qualitative evaluations for each student in the course.

Schedule

The stagecraft class meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:30am-12:30pm October 29, 2024-March 18, 2024. Some evening and weekend hours are required for rehearsals and performances including during the weeks of January 11-18 and March 8-15.

The stagecraft teacher works in collaboration with two other performing arts teachers and with the support of the facilities team.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal applicant will:

  • have experience teaching technical theater - specifically set design and building, and running audio and lighting systems. 

  • have a proven track record working with children, faculty, and parents in a K-8 or theater setting.

  • have enthusiasm, patience, and energy for working with children.

  • be creative. 

  • have good people skills and be able to confidently interact with parents as well as children.

  • be able to pass a background check.

  • be CPR certified or willing to become certified.

Compensation

The compensation for this position is $3,000. This is not a benefits-eligible position.
