Job Title: Long-Term Substitute Middle School Math Teacher

Location: Evergreen Country Day School; Evergreen, Colorado

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (Duration: Late September – Winter Break)

Reports To: Middle School Director, Cub Buenning

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified long-term substitute Middle School Math Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support to students in grades [5th-8th] during the absence of the regular teacher. The ideal candidate will possess strong classroom management skills, a passion for teaching mathematics, and the ability to engage students in learning. This position is a full-time, temporary role that requires a commitment to fostering a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach mathematics curriculum to middle school students, including [Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, etc.], ensuring alignment with state standards.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, collaborative group work, and technology integration to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, tests, assignments, and informal observations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding their academic performance.
  • Manage classroom behavior, ensuring a respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities as required.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to student safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required).
  • Current state certification in secondary education or mathematics (preferred but not required).
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly with middle school students, is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of middle school mathematics concepts and best teaching practices.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying academic needs.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and school staff.
  • Availability to start immediately and commit to the duration of the assignment.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires full-time availability during the school hours [8:00 AM – 3:30 PM].
  • Compensation will be based on experience.
