Middle School Math Long-term Sub (beginning March 24)
Denver JDS seeks a long-term sub for one 6th-grade math class, from March 24-June 6.
Denver Jewish Day School Background:
Our pluralistic Jewish community day school prepares and inspires Jewish students through an extraordinary secular and Judaic education to live purposefully, act ethically, and thrive in the world. We serve approximately 360 students in grades PK-12 on a beautiful campus in southeast Denver. Our Upper Division comprises around 89 middle schoolers in grades 6-8 and around 85 students in high school. Our approximately 35 Upper Division faculty and staff come from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to caring for and educating young people holistically.
Role and responsibilities of the teacher:
Denver Jewish Day School seeks a qualified math teacher to cover one class for about ten weeks, from March 24 to June 6. The class meets four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) in the early afternoon for 50 minutes (class is a little earlier and a little shorter on Fridays). The class is an “on-grade-level” pre-Algebra course with an enrollment of 14 sixth-graders. Another experienced math teacher is available to support the class two days/week, enabling small-group learning and differentiated instruction.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly professional, organized, and dependable person to fill this long-term sub role. The ideal candidate has experience teaching Middle School math, but we will consider any candidate who can demonstrate a strong understanding of how to teach pre-Algebra concepts and how to manage a Middle School classroom.
Compensation:
This long-term sub position pays $2,000 and is not eligible for benefits.
Applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Math Department Chair Andria Rabenold and Middle School Dean Megan Zitron.
